Senior Engineer
Kleinschmidt is seeking a Senior Engineer for our Essex, Connecticut office. The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Masters or Bachelors Degree in Structural, or related field of, Engineering and a Licensed Engineer;
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a consulting engineering or related firm;
- Experience with design, repairs to, or construction activities associated with dams and/or hydro-electric facilities would be beneficial;
- Ability to devise creative and cost-effective solutions to complex issues at large projects;
- Ability to work independently and remotely when required;
- Ability to forge long term professional relationships;
- Interest in marketing the services and skills of the firm; and
- Active participation in local state or national engineering societies or association is a plus.
In addition to excellent technical skills, candidates must have highly developed oral and written communication skills, be self-motivated, and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Senior Engineer
Kleinschmidt is seeking a Senior Engineer for our Estacada, Oregon office. The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Structural, or a related field of, Engineering and hold a Professional Engineer license;
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a consulting engineer or in a related field such as with a hydro utility;
- Experience with design, repairs, or construction associated with dams and/or hydro-electric facilities would be beneficial;

The selected candidate will immediately participate as part of a team of technical professionals working on hydro and other “green energy” projects in the U.S. The position will require experience in structural aspects of both concrete and steel construction in water environments and will involve structural design responsibilities. The successful candidate will be teamed with Kleinschmidt’s senior staff in the fields of structural, civil, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical engineering including work designing hydroelectric and fish passage facilities.

Emergency Action Plan Coordinator
Kleinschmidt is seeking an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Coordinator to fill an opening in either our Pittsfield or Falmouth, Maine offices.
Minimum requirements:
- BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university, and preferably two years experience with an interest in hydrology.
- The ability to conduct dam-breach analyses using the Army Corps of Engineers’ HEC-RAS model will be a plus for any candidate.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to interact with a variety of clients and the public in a variety of different communication media.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to effectively develop reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Adept at facilitating presentations to groups, including both clients, emergency responders, and agencies (such as public, state, federal resource agencies, and non-governmental organizations).
- A willingness to travel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Access).

Mid-Level Electrical Engineer
Kleinschmidt is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to fill an opening in our Maine or Pennsylvania offices.
Minimum requirements include:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 5-10 years of progressive work experience on varied industrial and utility power projects.
- Expertise with power systems design, transmission & distribution power equipment and protective relaying.
- PE Registration or the ability to obtain professional registration within one year of hire.

Typical duties include:

Senior FERC Licensing Specialist/Project Manager
Kleinschmidt is seeking Senior FERC Licensing Specialist/Project Manager for our Grass Valley, CA office. Minimum requirements include a BS/MS with 6+ years of experience in FERC hydropower licensing and compliance regulations and processes. The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience with water related resources, hydroelectric operations, and an in-depth knowledge of FERC and NEPA regulations and processes for hydroelectric and other energy projects.
- Proven ability to develop strategies for major issues with regulatory and resource relationships.
- Experience managing medium to large projects, budget preparation and tracking, and the ability to implement business development initiatives.
- Highly developed communication and presentation skills, including proposal preparation and interaction with clients and stakeholders (public, state and federal resource agencies, non-governmental organizations).
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team across multiple geographic locations.
- Negotiation and facilitation skills a plus.
- Some travel will be required.
