Henry Mealing is a Senior Fisheries Biologist in Kleinschmidt's South Carolina office. Mr. Mealing graduated from Augusta State University, Augusta, GA in 1981, earning a B.S. degree in Biology. In 1989, Mr. Mealing received a M.S. degree in Fisheries Science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In addition to this formal education, he has completed numerous special training courses in hydroacoustic assessments, fish disease identification, OSHA safety training, boating safety (US Power Squadron & South Carolina DNR), and facilitation training.
Mr. Mealing has 26 years of experience in biological sampling and statistical analyses of stream, river, and reservoir aquatic communities in the Southeast. He has served as Project Manager and/or Environmental Resources Manager for numerous hydropower relicensing and 316 projects. Mr. Mealing specializes in studies relating to hydropower impacts and relicensing. He has been innovative in developing strategies for mitigating project impacts around the southeast. Mr. Mealing serves as a senior facilitator for both public and private project meetings and is experienced with state and federal environmental permitting. Mr. Mealing routinely conducts environmental assessments related to hydroelectric relicensing projects. He is familiar with the NEPA process and has participated in the preparation of several EIS's, focusing primarily on the fisheries and water quality portions of the application documents as well as the detailed biological studies forming the basis of EIS conclusions.
Mr. Mealing participates in the following memberships and associations: Georgia and South Carolina Chapters of the American Fisheries Society and Warm Water Stream Committee of the Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society.
