Scott Ault is a senior fisheries biologist with over 23 years experience in scoping, conducting, and management of fisheries studies in support of hydropower relicensing efforts. Since 1989 alone, he has served as project manager for over 65 projects relating to the impact of hydroelectric operation on fish and wildlife, fishway design, and restoration efforts across the country.
Mr. Ault’s experience includes working with the Clark Fork Relicensing team to develop a 40-year management plan for the restoration of native salmon species. For this effort, Mr. Ault was the primary author. In addition, Mr. Ault was the Project Manager for over 40 detailed fisheries and ecological research studies associated with the relicensing of the 1,000 MW St. Lawrence/FDR Power Project. These projects provided Mr. Ault with considerable experience working with collaborative groups as well as scoping, bidding subcontracts, and managing multiple study teams.
In addition to his expertise with entrainment and fish passage issues at hydroelectric facilities, Mr. Ault has extensive experience with various fish tracking techniques, including management of several recent studies on migrating American eel populations in the St. Lawrence River using state of the art acoustic tagging and 3-D positioning systems.
Mr. Ault received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Millersville University, Pennsylvania in 1981. He is a member of the National Hydropower Association and American Fisheries Society.
